Reserve the weekend of December 9-11 for a holiday musical extravaganza with The Noteables and You've Got Male. Presented by Salida Sings, "Follow That Star!" directed by Linda Taylor, will lift your spirits and remind you of the healing, grace and light that accompanies the Christmas season. We will be joined by our drummer, Kurt Wipperfurth and special guest, Bruce Warren, who will play familiar carols on his angelic hammered dulcimer
The Noteables will open the show with an unusual arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard On High". The imagery in "The Snow Has A Song" will make you yearn for those quiet, winter nights when the snow falls gently on the barren trees. "Winter Wolf", with audience participation, will take you through the life cycle of this majestic animal. The hilarious "Pie Carols", set to recognizable melodies, exalt the culinary wonders of Christmas pies. "Bring A Torch Jeanette, Isabella" and the gospel, "Mary, Mary Had-A But One Child" get you to the manger on time.
You've Got Male will sing the renaissance-like processional “Follow That Star!" with Mary Cuyler on flute. A stunning arrangement of "I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day" compliments the haunting "Winter Gift" describing all the wonders of a snow covered world. When You've Got Male starts singing “Oh Christmas Tree”, The Noteables join in for a little fun and a little more pie.
The two choruses will combine to perform 7 songs including, "Gather Round", with a contagious calypso beat, the lively gospel, "Can You Hear The Angels?", and the pensive winter story "While The Snow Lay Sleeping". Mozart gets a turn with a four part round, using the lyrics from "Deck the Halls". "Carol of Winter Peace" creates a vocal tapestry of two familiar melodies with altered lyrics that speak to the Christmas message of "peace on Earth, good will to all."
