This month's "Creative Mixer" will be Thursday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery. Sponsored by Salida Council for the Arts, this popular monthly gathering is a casual opportunity for area artists, writers, musicians, and other creatives to meet, network, and socialize. Everyone interested in the visual or performing arts is invited to attend this free event.
The Mixer's featured guest artist this month is Sue Ann Hum, whose wide-ranging exhibition, "Said I Am A Painter", will be on display in the Paquette Gallery through February. In this, her first solo exhibition in Chaffee County, viewers are invited to slow down and savor moments which have visually arrested and fascinated her. Known for the annual French painting holidays that she hosts for other artists, Sue Ann plans to offer a "Van Gogh immersion" painting trip to Provence in 2017.
Featured musician will be regionally popular Salida guitarist/vocalist Red Tischer, who creatively blends flamenco/gypsy music with what he calls "techno chill" to increase audiences' listening experience. Free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; as will the popular "soapbox" where anyone can stand up and make announcements of interest to the crowd.
