Symphonic Salida at Salida High School - Top Brass! Ensemble, back by popular demand!
Doors open at 7:00 p.m - performance begins at 7:30 p.m

For the second concert of the 2015-16 Symphonic Salida season, the renowned Colorado Symphony Brass Ensemble will perform Feb. 11 at 7:30 pm in the Salida High School auditorium.  Titled "Wine, Women, and Song (and other inspirational vices)", the evening's freewheeling program promises to explore "the wild side of classical music".

The six-member Ensemble will showcase "composers having a good time", with selections expected to range from Mozart to Gershwin to Clapton.  The evening's program will open with the stirring "Barber of Seville Overture" by Rossini, and include works by such diverse composers as Debussy, Sousa, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Bernstein.

Members of the Colorado Symphony Brass Ensemble slated to appear include headliners Justin Bartels (Principal Trumpet), Phillip Hembree (Trumpet), Michael Thornton (Horn), John Sipher (Trombone), Gregory Harper (Bass Trombone), and Stephen Dombrowski (Tuba).

Advance tickets may be purchased now at a 10% discount ($18 each) at the SteamPlant box office, Salida Chamber of Commerce, or SymphonicSalida.org.  Last-minute tickets will be $20 at the door (students $10).  Doors open at 7 pm.

For the fourth year in a row, Salida is honored to be the only community outside of Denver chosen for performances by the Colorado Symphony.  The concerts are organized by the local Symphonic Salida Steering Committee, and presented by KHEN Community Radio.  Additional support is provided by Colorado Creative Industries and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as philanthropic patrons and businesses throughout the Valley.

Salida's two remaining Colorado Symphony concerts in the current season will be the Ivy Street Ensemble Chamber Trio on April 21; and a return appearance by the popular Bill Hill & Friends Jazz Ensemble on May 26.  Both concerts will be at the SteamPlant; for more information, visit SymphonicSalida.org.
