Salida Artists Second Saturday Gallery Tour
Each month, members of Salida Artists open their doors to seasoned collectors, art lovers, and artists via the Second Saturday Gallery Tour. This easy stroll between galleries and other creative spaces gives the public the ability to participate in this vibrant creative community. A featured gallery is chosen every month.
Second Saturday Featured Gallery: F Street Gallery
F Street Gallery, the new kid on the block, located at 119 N. F Street is the featured art gallery for February!
F Street Gallery is an interactive gallery celebrating the passion of local artists and musicians. There are over 20 different local artists represented in this beautiful space and as a result offers an eclectic variety of art with something for everyone including watercolor, oil, acrylic and pastel paintings, manipulated photography, pottery, jewelry, handmade clocks, leather journals and sculpture.
A major reason Michael and Lori started this gallery three months ago is to promote community interaction and celebrate the artist in all of us! They plan to have music events, art classes and wine and paint parties in the future. The music has already started up having a couple of open jam sessions and pot luck events. Artists, "Blue Recluse Trio" and Bruce Hayes have already performed in this unique little listening space. The acoustics are great and the room is so comfortable that people just want to hang around and stay a while. This is the feel the Tatum's were going for when they created the space. Art classes have already started up with Curtis Killorn “Learning to Draw What you See.” Classes will be expanding in the near future where you can learn several different art mediums.
Please join us Second Saturday to explore beautiful art by local artists and live music by our featured musician, local singer songwriter Alex Maes from 6:00-8:00! This is the perfect time to come down and see what F Street Gallery has to offer. Libations and Hors-d'oeuvres will be served. See you then!

Bork & Watkins Studio Gallery
MANIFEST: Carl Bork Solo Show of large scale portraits exploring self expression opens at Bork and Watkins Gallery Feb 13th, Second Saturday
Departing from what Carl Bork is most known for, painting the landscape plein-air or in studio, Bork has decided to go back to his roots in portrait painting but with a new found appreciation for abstraction and sensitivity to what emotions color and texture can convey. It's not so much about creating a likeness but personal expression and communication of concepts is what the show is primarily about.
The show consists of 14 paintings most of which are large scale paintings with the largest measuring 6ft. by 4ft. The larger scale has allowed Bork more freedom to express himself in these pieces whether it's with large sweeping passages of color or layers of textured paint. "Manifest" represents a wide range of emotions from some paintings being bright and happy to others more dark and mysterious.
"I didn't want the work to be self contained to one emotion." Bork explains. " I wanted to be honest with myself and let what ever feelings I have come out in the work."
This approach has led to a body of work that is surprising and unexpected. Stimulating intelligence and self reflection from the viewer.
MANIFEST opens Second Saturday. February 13th. Show preview starts at 1pm - 5pm. Opening reception is at 6pm.
As a special treat for the show we are giving away free limited edition signed prints of at least one of the paintings in the show limited to 50. In order to get your free print you must be at the door at 1pm when the show opens. Not a minute later. Also part of the free print will be a free download card of my good friend Be Man's new album.
