This month's Salida "Creative Mixer" is Thursday, June 9 at 5:30 pm in the SteamPlant Paquette Gallery at 220 West Sackett Avenue in Salida's Downtown Creative District. Sponsored by Salida Council for the Arts, this popular networking event is a way for local artists, writers, musicians, art lovers and community members to meet and socialize on a casual basis.
The featured artist this month will be Hannelore Gabriel, whose exhibit "Round Works" features multimedia assemblages that artfully combine paint, metal, wood, and paper. Gabriel's show will remain on display in the Paquette Gallery throughout June.
Our featured musician will be accordionist and award-winning artist Jim "J.C." Maxon. A former gallery owner and archeologist, Maxon performs accordion music and exhibits watercolors, pastels, and photography at galleries and shows throughout the country.
As always, the Mixer is free and open to the public. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available; as will the popular "soapbox" attraction, where everyone is welcome to stand up and make announcements of community interest.
Salida Council for the Arts is an all-volunteer organization working for the enrichment of the arts, artists, and community of Salida.
