The Book Haven will be hosting Eleanor Brown, author of The Weird Sisters and The Light of Paris, onThursday, August 18 at 7:30 Following her presentation, there will be a Q and A and book-signing. The Book Haven was delighted to host Eleanor Brown after The Weird Sisters was published and we feel honored to be part of her Colorado tour with her new novel.
Inspired by her own grandmother’s experiences abroad in 1920s Paris, Eleanor Brown’s The Light of Paris, is a brilliant dual tale about the critical importance of living a meaningful, authentic life.
One storyline follows a young woman’s adventures in Jazz Age Paris including her romantic liaison with a dashing French artist and her fiery defiance of her disapproving parents, something quite extraordinary among nice young ladies of the time.
The second storyline, set in the present, focuses on a promising thirty-four-year-old artist who has ceded her creative life—her entire life in fact--to a controlling, dispassionate spouse only to struggle to find the courage to reclaim it.
Weaving the story into a rich tapestry, The Light of Paris probes the joys and risks of living life on our own terms, of defying the rules that hold us back from our dreams, and of becoming the people we are meant to be.
