Creative Mixer @ The SteamPlant

  • Salida SteamPlant Event Center - Paquette Gallery 220 West Sackett Avenue Salida, CO, 81201 United States (map)

Everyone is invited to attend the Salida Council for the Arts’ monthly Creative Mixer. Held every second Thursday at the Salida SteamPlant, the September 8th Mixer features a wide array of creative fiber art. Learn more about the exhibition and the upcoming annual Salida Fiber Festival (more information can be found at! Music this month is by Megan Lombardo.

The Creative Mixer is a free, casual, monthly public gathering of those interested in knowing more about the local arts scene. Held in the lobby of the Salida SteamPlant from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., the “Soapbox Announcements” are a popular feature of the evening. Anyone with information about an upcoming arts-related event is encouraged to share that information with those gathered. Artists new to the area are welcome to introduce themselves and may find new friends and collaborators at the “Mixer”. Free hors’ de oeuvres, a cash bar, beautiful artwork, great conversation, and music are always in abundance.

To celebrate their fifth annual event, the Salida Fiber Festival board is mounting the SteamPlant exhibition of fiber art made by local artists and festival vendors. In viewing the show, patrons will see fiber as art, and the creators celebrate recognition of their talents. From knitted and woven pieces to felt and paper, the fiber world is large and endlessly creative--these are not your grandma's knitted washcloths!
