about Salida Council for the Arts

Our Mission

Our mission is to enrich the cultural life of our community by nurturing and supporting excellence in the arts; to increase the community’s awareness of and appreciation for the arts; to promote and encourage arts education; and to serve as liaison between the arts, businesses, government and educational institutions.

Our Events

Creative Mixers: Each month on the second Thursday, the SCFTA presents the Creative Mixer. Artists working in all genres are encouraged to attend and meet like-minded people, to share influences and news, to soak up fresh ideas, and to be inspired by the energy that makes Salida a center of support and expression. Learn More

Valley Visions Art Exhibition: An annual showcase for the Arkansas River Valley's top established and emerging creative talent, the exhibit features 40 of the area's most innovative painters, sculptors, photographers, and artisans. Learn More

Scholarships and Grants

William Boddy Passion to Learn Scholarships: Reflecting William's desire to share his many skills and talents, the SCFTA selection committee will bi-annually award these scholarships to worthy artists and/or craftspeople who also desire to teach their unique expression in art, music, drama or restoration via classes or workshops for the Salida community. Our mission is to share with as many people as possible to spark interest in artist endeavors, life changing careers or personal enrichment. We wish to tap into the rich creative spirit of Salida and the surrounding area. Learn More

Community Grants: Grants of up to $500 each are awarded to applicants seeking funding for local arts and cultural based projects. These projects need to have a definable connection to the Salida Community and be supportive of the Council’s Mission Statement. Learn More
