About Us

Salida Council for the Arts is a 501c(3) all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the arts in Salida. Programs include Creative Mixers, Valley Visions Art Exhibition, Community Grants, High School Scholarships and supporting other arts organizations in Salida. We are supported by the Salida Creative District and private donations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enrich the cultural life of our community by supporting the Arts. We do this through funding, through advocacy and by creating opportunities for artists to grow and to engage with the community.

Our Events

Creative Mixers: Each month on the second Thursday, the SCFTA presents the Creative Mixer. Artists working in all genres are encouraged to attend and meet like-minded people, to share influences and news, to soak up fresh ideas, and to be inspired by the energy that makes Salida a center of support and expression. Learn More

Valley Visions Art Exhibition: An annual showcase for the Arkansas River Valley's top established and emerging creative talent, the exhibit features 40 of the area's most innovative painters, sculptors, photographers, and artisans. Learn More

Scholarships and Grants

Community Grants: Grants of up to $500 each are awarded to applicants seeking funding for local arts and cultural based projects. These projects need to have a definable connection to the Salida Community and be supportive of the Council’s Mission Statement. Learn More

High School Scholarships: Scholarships are available to any Salida senior who is planning to pursue a career in a creative discipline at an accredited college, university or art school. Learn More
