Had this been a different year, the Fiber Festival would have been celebrating its ninth year at Riverside Park, with all the vendors and visitors surrounded by the gorgeous colors of the fibers and the natural beauty of the park and the river. Instead, we are celebrating virtually, except for the Fiber Art Exhibition, which is part of the festival both during our digital weekend (Sept. 12 and 13) AND in real life, in the Paquette Gallery at the Salida SteamPlant. For the first time, the festival chose a theme, “Going Green”, and the exhibition carries that out, with the entries either making use of the color green, or showing how fiber artists can “reduce, reuse, and recycle”. All entries are original designs, and the artists are either vendors in this year’s festival or are residents living within 50 miles of Salida.
