The Salida Council for the Arts has awarded its coveted Mel Strawn Arts Achievement Award to abstract expressionist sculptor Bernice Strawn.
Two years ago, the Salida Council for the Arts created a special award to recognize an individual in our community who exhibited qualities that we deemed important to the growth and vitality of our art community – someone who has dedicated their life to not only developing their talents and skills, but also sharing them with others as a teacher, mentor, advocate, and activist for the ARTS. The first recipient was Mel Strawn so this annual award now bears his name.
