A beginner class for people who have never carved stone, but have the desire to create an animal form that holds special meaning to them. It is an art form traditional to Native Americans, such as the Zuni and Navajo nations.
Anyone who can hold a file and sandpaper can learn to shape, polish and wax a piece of alabaster or soapstone. There are no knives involved.
This is one course across two 4-hour sessions to complete the carvings.
All tools and materials will be provided.
Masks and social distancing required.
